Self-storage industry veteran to represent Storage Stats at industry events, support product development, and work alongside Founder and CEO Martin Dimitrov to grow the brand.
Storage Stats today announced that RK Kliebenstein has joined the company as Brand Ambassador. In this role, Kliebenstein will represent Storage Stats across the self-storage industry, at events and in work with operators, developers, and investors, while contributing to product development and supporting Founder and CEO Martin Dimitrov in growing the brand.
Decades on every side of the deal
Kliebenstein is widely recognized in the self-storage industry as an author, speaker, expert witness, and consultant. He came up through the industry's ranks as Director of Acquisitions at Amsdell and Stor-All Systems before being recruited to Extra Space Storage following Prudential's funding of its acquisition, where he served as Senior Vice President of Acquisitions & Integration. In that role, he helped build the due diligence tools and processes that supported the company's rapid growth, underwriting nearly $3 billion in self-storage transactions and closing more than $400 million in sales. Extra Space Storage went public in 2004.
In 2011, Kliebenstein became Vice President, Acquisitions at Metro Storage, where over an eight-year engagement he built a portfolio spanning core, development, and value-add transactions, contributing to $220 million in deals and more than $400 million in development, and sourcing $3.6 billion in opportunities in a single 12-month period.
In 2000, Kliebenstein founded Coast-To-Coast Storage, today known as Self-Storage, LLC, where he continues to serve as President. He has also served as an SME product consultant to StorTrack and as a consulting partner to Social Explorer on the development of TractIQ, and previously served as Brand Ambassador for iPostal1.
He is the author of three books on self-storage investment and operations:
- How To Invest in Self-Storage (2005)
- How To Make Money in Self-Storage (2008)
- How To Make MORE Money in Self-Storage (2008)
He is currently developing The Municipal Guide to Developing Self Storage.
“I am thrilled to serve as Brand Ambassador for Storage Stats. Bringing a best-in-class product at a price point that puts great data within reach of developers large and small is exactly the kind of work I want to be doing. I've used and tested the product myself, and it's impressive. I'm proud to be part of the team,” said Kliebenstein.
“We're excited. It's not often you find an industry veteran eager to share their decades of experience. RK has been on every side of a self-storage deal: buying facilities, building facilities, underwriting them, and teaching others how they can do it too. He is precise, he knows the data that matters, and he has been hands-on with Storage Stats. Putting that experience into the product is a big gain for us and for the operators and investors who use Storage Stats,” said Martin Dimitrov, Founder and CEO of Storage Stats.
